- They are responsible for more than 300 properties of national importance including Edinburgh Castle, Skara Brae, Fort George and more
Small print
- Advance booking is not required.
- Multiple purchases permitted. Max 6 under 5's tickets per transaction.
- Duration: approx. 1 hour. Please note The Castle must be clear of visitors by 9pm.
- Standing event.
- Suitable for all ages. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.
- Child (under 16), concessions and adult tickets include a choice of latte, americano, cappuccino, flat white, tea or hot chocolate from the Redcoat Café inside the Edinburgh Castle grounds.
- Wheelchair access available.
- Please note the suggested route of the event does include stairs, some uneven terrain and cobbles however alternate routes are available.
- The Edinburgh Castle mobility vehicle will not be available at this event however there are a limited number of manual wheelchairs available on a first come, first served basis.
- If you require a free carer ticket please contact castleoflight@hes.scot.
- Booking in advance for under 5 tickets is not required. Under 5s are granted free access and entry will be managed at Edinburgh Castle on the night. This applies to under 5 tickets only. Under 5s must be accompanied by an adult.
- In the event of severe weather the event may be cancelled at short notice, we recommend that you check the HES website - www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/check-for-closures/ - and the Edinburgh Castle social channels from 1pm on the day you have booked Castle of Light tickets for.
- For ease of movement, visitor safety and general security, suitcases and large rucksacks over 30L are not permitted in the castle. Please note the organisers are unable to store luggage, prams, pushchairs or other personal items for visitors.
- No dogs permitted except assistance dogs.
- This event may contain strobe effects, loud noises, smoke machines and other special effects.
- You can use your paperless ticket from your itison account on any mobile device. Printed vouchers are also accepted.
- Ticket is non-refundable unless event is cancelled.
- Ticket is not exchangeable for cash or valid with any other offers.

This was a great event, well laid out and signposted with friendly and helpful staff. I wasn’t sure what to expect but my expectations were exceeded. It was informative and well presented for all ages. Would definitely recommend- we will return next year.
