Bit of a negative experience. I originally phoned and booked afternoon tea through Cameron House for myself and my family (4 people). My sister then seen the itison vouchers and sent me them, so I phoned up to ask if I would be able to use them with this booking and if so I would go ahead and buy them. I was told yes in a roundabout way and that it may be a bit of a palava. However, this was saving us £60 for the 4 of us so I went ahead and then called back up to use them around 10 mins later. Despite the phone being answered in 2 mins the first twice I called, I then sat on hold for around 30 mins waiting on someone picking up my call to apply the voucher codes to the booking. Felt like I was now being ignored as the staff were annoyed I wanted to use vouchers.
Staff were nice enough when chatting you through the afternoon tea. However just found a few things a little rude. For a start, when I phoned to book, they asked me if it was anything special and I told them it was my Mum’s 60th birthday and the lady agreed that was special and told me she’d make a note of that on the booking. However, when we got there not one of the servers mentioned it or said happy birthday. I think it was really rude not to acknowledge this. We went to other restaurants to celebrate last month and so many made her feel so special, even the ones we didn’t tell directly (they just overheard us saying it). We also left a significant amount of cakes and whilst everyone else was offered the choice to get them boxed up, no one came near us to ask that or even to settle the bill. Eventually I went up to the bar and asked if I had anything to pay on top of the vouchers and was told “no that’s you done.” So not only did I need to go and seek them out to settle my bill, they then closed me down and then didn’t offer to let us take all of our cakes home. First and last time in an establishment like this, felt like we were treated differently from everyone else.
There was also no offer of hot drink refills for my sister and I.

Dinner was lovely and the spa was so relaxing. Everything was great and the staff were very friendly.

Expected better. Steam rooms cold and infinity pool cool. Large pool outside use. Afternoon tea average.

Staff were lovely and food was nice. However. The spa itself is now very tired looking and there were many areas in need of repair. Broken and splintered benches in the sauna. Both bannisters dangerously wobbly at the infinity pool, locks broken off in shower. Generally needing updated.

Shower gel needs to be re - filled especially if folk having mud experience. Really this is no use and annoying !
Showers drainage filled with previous guests hair . This would not happen if areas regularly cleaned . Disgusting for 5 star

Unfortunately we didn't the best experience. Firstly, the road up to the building wasn't lit up and there were next to no lights in the car park and round to building towards the entrance to the spa. The dinner was okay but we were expecting more from Cameron House. Entering the spa itself, the receptionist was very nice and talked us through everything and where to find things. The changing rooms were nice but it was running out of things like toilet roll, body wash etc. We didn't use the indoor pool and went straight upstairs to the thermal and hydro spa. The place was swimming with water. I understand that obviously there are a lot of the facilities that use water but the floor was basically a big puddle. The "saunas" were basically just warm rooms and nothing like the temperatures described on the signs outside them. The steam rooms weren't hot enough to actually have steam but hot enough to have very hot drips of water coming down the ceiling. We had been hit with a few of them and didn't stay in for more than a couple of minutes. The hydro pool I will say was lovely, we loves the different experiences you could have within it. Unfortunately, again, the floor was swimming and very slippery. We only saw one member of staff the whole time we were there and it was the same member of staff who we met at reception and she looked very overworked trying to take samples of the water and tidy up a bit. We went up to the infinity pool, obviously we expected to be cold because it was a wet and windy night but the pool itself wasn't very warm and again we only lasted a couple of minutes before going back to the hydro pool. It's a shame because if everything was working properly we would come back but I wouldn't want to chance it again. I understand they may be short staffed by the look of things.

Whilst this was pleasant and a beautiful setting, I was disappointed that we were fairly cramped ( right next to the couple beside us) and it was rather awkward. Service was a bit slow and had to ask for milk for the tea!

Spa was lovely, very relaxing experience shame it wasn’t longer!
The afternoon tea was very poor for a 5* hotel. We didn’t receive a menu, or tea menu. Weren’t told what each thing was. Mustard on the ham sandwich was very overpowering. You could tell the cakes etc had been covered in cling film as the decoration on the cakes was squashed. In general not the best afternoon tea to be offering in a renowned hotel. Very disappointing after a lovely spa experience.
