Quayside Restaurant is a lovely place. The staff are very friendly, the views of the harbour are spectacular and best of all, they make a fantastic fish and chips. We were there late lunchtime on a Sunday after a brisk walk along the old railway line towards Johnshaven to build up an appetite - which we needed, as the portions are generous. After a short break between courses, we both managed to find room for a dessert - a sticky toffee pudding and an affogato. Both were excellent.

Chips were undercooked and grilled fish had many bones in it and I did not enjoy it and only ate half. The waiter explained it to me that fish were animals that had bones and if I had taken it battered the bones would have cooked down. Some time later he offered me a jumbo battered haddock which I declined as no way could I have even eaten a portion of it.
