Excellent. Friendly staff, delicious food, lovely drinks. One of the few places in Edinburgh that doesn't believe its own hype; it is just quietly very very good.

Ondine was a treat worth waiting for (I’d had to reschedule twice and they were so helpful).
The decor is sleek, modern and minimalist. We were welcomed then seated at a table close to the bar. The menus were explained and our glass of fizz brought over while we perused optional extras to our tasting experience.
Staff were attentive, without being in your face, refilling glasses and clearing the table timeously, and very friendly.
The tasting menu was delicious. Two succulent crispy oysters with hot sauce to start, our bread and butter helped to mop up the leftover sauce and the scallop with chorizo butter had the same treatment (but beware hot scallop shells!). Our main was breaded plaice served on a sauce of mushrooms and chicken butter - this was glorious and really benefitted from side orders of Jersey Royal potatoes and Parmesan (and nutmeg seasoned) spinach. The dessert was a very light dish of seasonal berries with delicious vanilla ice cream, nothing special but just what was needed after the rest of the menu.
Not a cheap meal but excellent value for the quality of the food and service.

It was perfect

There were 4 of us having a taster menu, and we found the food absolutely delicious. It was beautifully presented with wonderful flavours in each course. It is a light, airy restaurant with very pleasant staff serving discreetly. It is a pity that the entrance is inside scaffolding at present but did not detract from our experience.
We will return!

We enjoyed our anniversary meal using our itison voucher, service and food were very good

Restaurant itself very nice although major construction works outside detracted somewhat. Tasting menu very brief, and portion sizes tiny. Deep fried crispy oyster to start - coating was so spicy we could have been eating anything and was overcooked. Followed by a single scallop which was only just cooked. Monkfish main course was the best course but we had to add side order of chips or we would have left hungry. Dessert was some chopped strawberries and very cheap vanilla ice cream. Altogether disappointing. I have eaten here before and it was great - obviously their itison offering is providing the bare minimum - and this was not a cheap voucher. We will not be back! Itison shoudl check more closely what they are selling.

We ordered fizz for the table unfortunately the staff forgot to serve it. We ordered sides for main dishes sadly they were forgotten too. After speaking to the staff they were ordered from the kitchen and delivered to us once we had finished our main dishes.

We had a wonderful meal at Ondine on Saturday night. The staff were excellent. I couldn’t have two of the dishes due to allergies so they offered options which were delicious.
