Very short staffed- very young staff who didn’t really know who was supposed to be going what! Went to get a drink before dinner to find no-one on the bar and I had to ask twice at reception to get someone to serve us - we gave up after 20 mins and went straight in to dinning room- not a lot of choice for us personally as either fish starters or raw beef carpaccio and only 2 choices for main with tge chips bring very thick and hard-only nice thing was dessert
I understand we came down for breakfast at a busy time but no tables had been cleared as they didn’t seem to have set jobs - the staff were very young with little experience and our waiter wiped the table with a used napkin!!!! The bedroom we got was very dated with two stains on the beige carpet and the bathroom walls and tiles being covered in black mould- even the bathroom walls had a dent with a black mark on it - unless in changes dramatically I would not go back to this hotel and it is definitely NOT 4*

Lovely welcome from friendly professional staff. Room a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Food more than acceptable with some delicious dinner options. So refreshing to have cooked breakfast served to your table and not buffet style. Spa and pool facilities but require some upgrading. Price we paid very competitive.

A lovely warm welcome at this traditional Scottish hotel from Gwen at reception and the rest of the staff made us feel quite at home. The food was delicious and having breakfast looking out at the sunrise was spectacular!

We had an evening meal here there were four of us . We all raved about how good our meal was the food was amazing! The staff were so helpful and our room was great the bed was comfy and there were nice fluffy towels . We would return. There are tartan carpets, Scottish music playing in the background and big coal fires .

Very friendly and efficient staff, good food and nice pool with sauna and steam room. Hotel very well situated for visiting National Trust properties in Aberdeenshire.

Food of very high quality with excellent service. A number of meetings and training sessions were going on. One of the bar lounges was closed off second evening of our stay for private use and this led lounge adjacent to bar to become a bit crowded. The lounge area next to reception was however available. Surprisingly a trio were using this same lounge for a meeting and morning.
