Great food, wine, service and ambience

Amazing food and service at The Dapper Moongoose yesterday.
We used a voucher from Itson, which I purchased in December and had to be used from 21 January until 29 March and included 5 small plates and a glass of fizz for 2 people, cost £29.00.
All plates packed a punch with flavour, so much so it’s hard to choose a favourite.
We love the Dapper Mongoose and will be back soon.

I gifted the voucher for the Dapper Mongoose to my son and his girlfriend, who both manage restaurants. They had a wonderful evening and thoroughly enjoyed their meal, especially the scallops with wilted samphire and roasted hazelnut and truffle risotto. They went down so well, that they ordered a second portion! My son says they will definitely go back soon to The Dapper Mongoose.

The food was very nice, good choice and options. The bread and butter really is fab. What I would say is this place is pricey. One small plate was the same as a main meal in other places. £14-£16.
We felt a bit rushed out and it wasn't out fault, we were left sitting a while before plates were cleared and asked for a dessert which arrived 5 mins before table was due back.
There are a couple of staff members that are probably not meant to be in this kind of job. The barely concealed exasperation on their faces made us feel a bit like a nuisance.
It's a nice environment but I don't think I would be back.

What a surprise! A wee gem tucked away in the southside with the most tasty food I've eaten in a while. We had lots of small plates from the menu - crab roll, scallops, beetroot, cheese souffles, lamb and the exquisite duck leg chips, all reasonably priced. Service was prompt, friendly and unpretentious. Wine list is condensed and again reasonable value. An absolute delight; I'm going back for the chips alone!

If I was very local I'd be happy to eat here occasionally, to see how their cooking was developing, but it's not worth (say) the 35 minutes on the bus from central Glasgow. The ingredients were good, but nothing was well seasoned, tastes were not at all intense or punchy, textures were muddy at best. For a small plates place this is a real pity, as of the 9 things we tried none stood out.
