I have visited and stayed at the Ballachulish before, even though it was a itison deal, the food was OK, lots of things missing on fish menu, the menu jn the restaurant different price from the room menu. We were charged room service, which we didn't use.

The hotel has been refurbished & it’s really raised the standards which were always modest but good - I thought the improvements were very good - Gr8 room Gr8 ensuite- hotel heating seems to be a lot better too. The setting of the hotel is sublime & the staff are lovely & helpful.
The food is better than it was last time I was there but I would like a made to order breakfast . I did have an unfortunate reaction to a meal I had chosen that did not detail an ingredient that I have a reaction to - it was unpleasant but did not totally spoil my break - I did mention it to the reception and restaurant staff members and it was noted - they were sorry.

On arrival, I was told that there was no booking under my name and was asked if I was sure that I’d booked the Ballachulish Hotel. I showed my email confirmation from itison and Ballachulish Stay for 15/11/23. I was told that the booking was for 15/1/24 and asked if I’d changed the date which I had not. We were asked to wait in the library until they sort it out. I returned to reception 30 minutes later to ask if we should book accommodation elsewhere. We were told that they had found us a room. Instead of the staff admitting that there was a mix up by the hotel, they made me feel it was my fault. I don’t think itison should use this hotel again as it is severely lacking in customer service.
