An ex-boyfriend once told me he never wanted to use itison/groupon type vouchers because you don’t get the same experience as a full paying customer, get smaller portions than normal and the rooms they can’t sell in hotels. Certainly felt this way at Crieff Hydro.
We went overnight on the Itison offer and were so excited. Upon arrival had to pay £30 for the kids which we’d expected but it suddenly takes the price that bit higher. Our room was large but so grotty, dirty and had green crayon on the walls and lampshade. Wallpaper wripped or bubbling in several places and the toilet wasn’t even flushed when we went in. Truly felt like we’d been given one of the worst rooms in the hotel!
I just find everything at Crieff Hydro pretty average and totally overpriced! Lunch for two adults and two kids (3 and 4) was £110, and the food was just ok. I’m not entirely sure what it is that people love about the place?! We were there earlier in the year in a self catering lodge for my mum’s 70th and that was better, but we really have no desire to ever return.
All in, within the 24 hours we stayed, we must have spent upwards of £500 on the Santa experience (which was so disappointing), ice skating, panto, and food. After a swim in the kids pool (because the main pool was unbearably cold) we left at midday because I did not want to give the hotel any more of my money! I don’t know what I’m missing but I don’t get the hype - it’s really nothing exceptional and is existing on its reputation and influencers who get free/discounted stays telling everyone to go!

We had a fabulous Christmas themed visit to Crieff Hydro. We stayed in the mchardy lodge and it was first class. We have stayed there many times before but it was even more special given the time of year. I have to say the staff turned the hotel into a wonderful winter wonderland. We had kids with us and we all enjoyed the Christmas train ride and I was impressed with the detail the hotel had put into it. The kids also enjoyed the ice skating and visiting Santa. All in all a lovely three days break.

Not advised to book dinner therefore we had to go off site with our 9 month old in the evening in the cold. The offsite Murray park hotel were far more helpful and accommodating. Not advised we were meant to book breakfast either. Pool was good though but again it’s closed at certain times which would have been helpful to know.

The winter wonderland was a bit underwhelming to be honest. Couple of food stalls and the ice rink and that was it. One of the stalls was meant to have mulled wine and every time we asked they kept saying it wasn't ready and was still to be brought up from the hotel. Santas grotto, again was okay. Hotel itself we felt was quite run down and really needs a bit of freshening up. The brasserie restaurant I think it was felt like a school canteen and the kids meal was 100% frozen and didn't look appetising at all. The food was average and would expect better for the prices they charge. There's a kids disco which again was okay. All in wouldn't go back have stayed in better hotels for less.

We absolutely loved our log cabin and log burner. We adored our stay from start to finish and I loved the Beauty Treatments. It really is a perfect place.
The food at the Murraypark Hotel was excellent and the service was amazing. They catered for our gluten free and dairy free needs in an exceptional way. We couldn’t have asked for more and we can’t wait to go back.

We had a wonderful stay, even better than anticipated, there was so much to do for children and we all had a great time. We’d love to visit again.

The lodge was very spacious and well equipped. We used it for a family celebration birthday and suitable for 6 adults and 2 children. Hotel facilities excellent for all and enjoyed a lovely meal in the Bistro. Fully recommend for a short break. Itison voucher made it an excellent value break thanks.
