We were up graded to a superior superior king room. Had a great sleep bed comfortable. The room had French doors onto private terrace with lovely chairs and a table. Food was simple but beautifully cooked. As a result we had dinner on both nights. Enjoyed sitting in front of log burner in bar area. Staff were welcoming and Friendly. Food great value for money and tasty. Would definitely be back

This hotel has so much potential to be really good. I can see it has had a refurb internally quite recently however the grounds have not been maintained well. Weeds everywhere, weeds instead of flowers in pots, rubbish lying up the side of the hotel in clear view of hotel patrons, car park messy with weeds…. The grounds could be stunning, but broken and tired wooden furniture in the garden and the lack of pretty flowers is sad. The lady on reception was very helpful and informative, the other staff were lovely but young and needing a dose of motivation and va va voom…. Management of this is ultimately down to the manager to encourage and inspire staff.
The food was average, nothing spectacular.
Our room was good, (room 5) patio doors out into a private (weedy) terrace with a cigarette douts lying there. Soundproofing is atrocious and we subsequently did not have a great sleep as we heard every movement of the dog and humans directly above us.
Edward the bar man was so embarrassed when he forgot to put the candles on my nieces dessert to celebrate her birthday but made this up with a free dessert and glass of bubbles. Edward actually saved the day!
I wouldn’t be rushing back….

Hotel in need of some TLC. Staff were friendly and helpful, but definitely a lack of staff....
Room clean and tidy. Outside furniture definitely needs cleaned and Outside areas also need attention.
Food was OK.

Lovely peaceful hotel, friendly staff and wonderful breakfast, unfortunately lost a star for being double booked but we were given a night in another hotel in Oban, which was also very good as they upgraded our room from which our views over the bay were amazing.
David an owner at Brander lodge was instrumental in getting us that hotel Muthu Alexandra in Oban.

Comfortable superking room. We were in the accessible room. Had a great nights sleep, the bed was so comfortable. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast in the conservatory was lovely. A good choice of hot and cold buffet breakfast.
A special mention for David who is the manager/owner. He was so nice and attentive, nothing was a bother and he made sure we were well taken care of after I had mentioned I had just been in hospital. Will definitely return and only a short drive away from Oban.

Comfortable accommodation. Let down a little by the food. Portion sizes too large and lacked finesse.
