Food was lovely but staff weren’t very attentive. No one came near us and we had to call them over to ask for things. Area where we were sitting was quite cold too.

Booking process is unacceptable along with customer service. Didnt have my booking, then made my booking, then tried to cancel it. Many ohobecalls and arguments later i got my original booking time and date.
Put in a cold area to sit, had to send coffee back, cakes as part of the afternoon not edible, tried to charge £5 service charge to order a bottle of wine

The bread used for the sandwiches was starting to go hard at the edges, and wasn’t as soft and fresh as we’d hoped. They were nice though, as were the cakes. The accompanying tea wasn’t hot enough and had to be returned and remade. The scones were a disappointment as they just broke into pieces when we tried to cut them in half. You can’t butter crumbs. The couple sitting behind us had issues with their afternoon tea. Overall, don’t think we!d do it again. Loved the hotel though and would perhaps go back for coffee/cake instead. Shame, thought it would have been better than it was.

Having had afternoon tea in many top hotels including Raffle and Savoy we are able to give constructive feedback
1) food was one of the best we have tasted for any afternoon tea
2) service/presentation need refined
We were never asked if we would like a drink or given a drinks menu.
There was no tea menu
tea arrived long before prosecco
Only give one set of cutlery and plates. I'm not going to use same cutlery and plate for savory and cakes/jam/cream
There was no effort to make day special, We were never asked is it a special occasion. We were served by 3 different servers. No continuity and no rapport
We specifically ordered on vegetarian, hover we were given 2 normal servings. We noticed and there were replaced
If serving leaf tea its essential to be given a tea strainer to uses. It avoids having to keep removing tea leaves from teeth.
None of the above was the fault of the servers. This is a system/training issue.
One other bizarre issue. All room suits are named after whiskeys. There is a very extensive range of malt whiskeys on display, however there is not a whiskey listed within the drinks menu. Scotland, Edinburgh , you are missing something here!!

From walking through the door, we had an excellent experience. We were given a little tour before we were shown to our table to enjoy our afternoon tea
