Very welcoming and lovely table. However would have expected Prosecco to be served in a flute, not a normal wine glass. Starters excellent but main courses fell short of our expectations-mutton was tough and fish was dry. Wondered if they had been kept warm under heat lamp while we had our starters.

The wonderful waiter made the experience most enjoyable. As the restaurant was quiet I did not expect a long delay between courses. The meat was dry and tough but the fish excellent .

We recently enjoyed their lunch menu and loved every morsel. We had the trout and haggis cannonballs for starters (one each), which were excellent. The risotto as a main was delicious and full of flavour. On top of that, the restaurant has unparalleled views of Edinburgh castle and the Royal Mile. One to go back to.

This is such an iconic setting with views over Edinburgh Castle esplanade.
The welcome was genuine and helpful. The food absolutely delicious. Good sized helpings all well presented.
Unfortunately the wine list is expensive and the coffee disappointing
