Wild mushroom fritter was in fact a potato cake with four tiny pieces of mushroom in it, served hot on a very cold sauce. Watery soup which should have been called Barley soup not Scotch broth as that appeared to be the main ingredient Chicken was well enough cooked but served with a dessert spoon of spiced chickpeas and a spiced potato cake that looked like it had been lying about all day and heated to warm just before serving. I had heard great things about this restaurant and was delighted to see it on ItIson. Was excited to try it out and had kept the voucher from October to have a treat in the dying days of winter. I know we didn't pay full price for our food but if this is the standard it is overpriced and underwhelming. Staff were friendly and attentive. That was a plus.

Disappointed that they no longer stocked Moretti lager but overall happy with the service

Very attentive and friendly staff who took care of us all night. Drinks arrived quickly, cocktails were very tasty. Main course (burger) was too big (two patties) and the bun was very hard (could have been better steamed or lightly warmed). This was the only time I've been to the Marlborough and not had an excellent main dish. Overall a really nice experience and I will be back despite that, because past experiences were excellent.
