The Oculus Lounge is the perfect setting to enjoy the Virgin Hotel's splendid afternoon tea. We had a wonderful leisurely afternoon. Staff exceptionally helpful, excellent customer service.

Unfortunately our experience was not a good one with the exception of the friendly and attentive staff. Sitting in a small atrium very closely opposite someone’s bedroom, being able to hear the guests behind their room door, housekeeping going in and out of the room (with a z bed at one point) and back and forward through the atrium & hotel guests constantly walking past you on there way to or from their bedroom whilst you are trying to enjoy afternoon is not appropriate and is definitely not enjoyable. The hotel was beautiful with a lovely bar and restaurants. Why you would seat afternoon tea guests in ‘the oculus’ when you have other lovely and more appropriate dining environment options makes absolutely no sense. We would not recommend the oculus at the virgin hotel for afternoon tea. However, afternoon tea in a different area of the hotel would probably be a completely different experience.

Absolutely stunning hotel! The afternoon tea with champagne was really nice, all food was lovely and was a bit different from just the usual sandwiches. Everything was perfect! Was a lovely way to spend my birthday. After the afternoon tea, we went to floor 7 to the terrace which overlooks the castle, the sun was shining which was made the day even more special.
