- Prepare to see Edinburgh Castle transform this festive season as Castle of Light returns for a fifth fantastic year with the Defender of the Nation illuminated in a spectacular after-dark trail
- See Edinburgh's stories brought to life on the castle walls, meet Rex the loveable lion in the Great Hall, and grab a drink or snack from their café or street food vendors.
- With an all-new show for 2024 from mythical creatures to forgotten tales, you'll walk in famous footsteps, dance through the ages in Crown Square and, for the first time since the 17th century, you will be able to "fire" Mons Meg!
- Enjoy spending time with friends and family as you experience unmissable moments, extraordinary lighting displays, and discover some magic mysteries along the way
- Conjure a charming start to your festivities with a magical night at the castle!

Small print
- Advance booking is not required.
- Suitable for all ages. Age restrictions are as follows: 0 - 6yrs are permitted FOC and will be registered on the night; children (7-15yrs), concession (65+) and adults (16-64yrs). Under 7s must be accompanied by an adult.
- Multiple purchases permitted.
- Duration: approx. 1 hour. Please note The Castle must be clear of visitors by 9pm.
- Includes a choice of latte, americano, cappuccino, flat white, tea or hot chocolate from the Redcoat Café inside the Edinburgh Castle grounds.
- Wheelchair access available. The Edinburgh Castle mobility vehicle will not be available at this event however there are a limited number of manual wheelchairs available on a first come, first served basis.
- The suggested route of the event does include stairs, some uneven terrain and cobbles however alternate routes are available.
- If you require a free carer ticket please contact castleoflight@hes.scot.
- In the event of severe weather the event may be cancelled at short notice, we recommend that you check the HES website - www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/check-for-closures/ - and the Edinburgh Castle social channels from 1pm on the day you have booked Castle of Light tickets for.
- For ease of movement, safety & security, suitcases & large rucksacks over 30L are not permitted. No storage available.
- No dogs permitted except assistance dogs.
- This event may contain strobe effects, loud noises, smoke machines and other special effects.
- A small service fee will be applied to your order, you'll see the exact amount at checkout.
- You can use your paperless ticket from your itison account on any mobile device. Printed vouchers are also accepted.
- Ticket is non-refundable unless event is cancelled.
- Ticket is not exchangeable for cash or valid with any other offers.

Fantastic treat with our Grandchildren

We had been the previous year ,but our grandchildren were wowed . They loved it all especially the cannon ,we hadn't seen that before - and the interactive Who are you . The light shows are fabulous and Rex wax a huge hit . The lady in the Great Hall was wonderful with everyone ,taking photos etc . It was a fantastic pre Christmas treat .
